Push back the curtain

There's a storm outside and you push back the curtain to sneak a peak

You see raindrops fall on your window like tears streaking down a cheek

The weatherman says there'll be showers all week

Yet watching the sky sob makes you stop and think

That's when your mind takes you to the bookshelves of broken dreams

There are a thousand editions just sitting on the shelves it seems

Oh, look you've sprung a leak

When it's peace you seek

But the ground beneath

Won't stay meek

Then your friends all treat you like some kind of freak

And life feels like you've been caught in its teeth

Because you are the meat

Survival feels like an impossible feat.

Yet when storms pass the sunshine feels like a treat

It feels like a friend you've been waiting to greet
