A split tree had you falling on your knees
To thank or curse the ones that taught you all about the birds and those angry little bees
Look how they swarm
Are they protecting the queen or trying to keep warm
Someone must be held responsible
I'm bound but you're still free
And I wish you were
responsive and comfortable around me
Instead of raked up into a pile of leaves
You are pieces that landed in my yard
But that's all you are
I'm still struck
this is aftermath
Even though it didn't add up
After I did the math
We were a flicker of lightning
Seen streaking across the star kissed sky
Well dressed and inviting
Count how many similar versions are out tonight
Subtract the ones that end up being satellites
Natural or otherwise
They all revolve around you
I doubt you even know why
But I heard you long before I was struck by that flash of light
